Tip Spotlight - Starting eBay

Do you have old merchandise sitting around your store?  Have you been collecting certain items, and no longer want to collect them?  Need to clean house and do not know what to do with all the "junk" you collected?  Have you been visiting yard sales too much?   eBay is the best way to sell off unwanted stuff.

Do you live in a small town that doesn't have many consumers?  Want to grow your business?  Want to collect that hot new collectable but cannot seem to find it in town?  Need to add to your collection?  Want to start a business selling certain items but not sure how to get started?  Use eBay to purchase your way to success.

Helpful eBay buying tips for anyone new to eBay.

Getting Started:

1)  Create a Google email account so all your auctions information will be sent to one place - you can use your business email but it is better to have one dedicated email address.  Setup email folders once your account setup is complete.  You can label them eBay purchases, or eBay sales.  It will make it much easier to keep track of completed auctions.  Gmail

2)  Create a user account on eBay - will require a cc for selling fees incurred.  You will need to create an eBay user ID.  This ID is your name for all you're bidding and selling.  A good example is "63Carparts".  Have fun and be creative with your user ID.  eBay

3)  Create a PayPal account - this is the easiest way to pay for auctions that offer PayPal as a method of payment taken.  PayPal will also safeguard you on some purchases and will give you up to 45 days to file a claim in case your item is lost in shipment, or is not what was described once you get it.  Since you have to use your checking account and a backup cc for PayPal accounts - you can easily transfer funds back and forth if needed.  Be aware that you will need a few days to get this started.  If you have items to sell, you can easily put PayPal as a method of payment taken.  This cuts cost of waiting for payment, and you do not have to pay additional fees to take Credit Cards.  This is also the preferred payment of eBay.  PayPal

4)  Make sure your passwords are different for the above accounts (email, eBay, and Paypal) - just in case you get hacked.  Now you are ready to start selling or buying on eBay.
